Dealing with setbacks: 4 tips

At the time of writing this blog, dealing with setbacks is very topical. Because of the Corona virus everyone has to stay at home. All the plans you had are on hold. Maybe you're worried about your income or the future. How can you deal with this?

Tip 1: Determine what you're paying attention to

One of the causes of stress right now, could be the news. Every program and every newspaper only write about one thing, the crisis we're in. By recording all of this, your brain keeps working on it. That is partly useful, but it can also be too much. Your brain reacts with tension, stress and maybe even gloominess. Decide how much attention you want to give to negative news each day. Or how to deal with these negative feelings.

Tip 2: Focus your attention on the positive

As a sequel to tip 1, it is best to focus on the positive. This can be done in different ways. By thinking about what really matters in your life, or keeping track of what is going well at the moment. By exposing your brain to positivity, they also become less stressed outside of this type of exercise.

Tip 3: Regularity

It's a time when you might easily get out of rhythm. Especially when there's not much you can do now, it doesn't seem so important to keep a fixed rhythm. That's not right! A fixed rhythm is important for your body and mind. Keep getting up and going to bed at regular times  but also eat and exercise

Tip 4: Think of it as an opportunity

As crazy as it sounds, maybe this period offers you opportunities. Maybe you have the time to immerse yourself in a particular book, or a course? Is there something you've always wanted to learn? Maybe this is the time for you to start mindfulness? Or follow our 3-day pain course!

I hope these tips will help you get through this difficult period. And that in the end, you'll be even better at dealing with setbacks.
